Among the nations who came before you were some who were inspired. If anyone among my ummah were to be inspired, it would be ‘Umar (رضي الله عنه).

Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) of Allah said:

Whilst I was sleeping, I saw myself drawing water from a well with a bucket. Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنه) came and drew a bucket or two weakly. May Allah forgive him. Then ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) came and the bucket turned into a very large in his hands. I had never seen anyine so strong doing this task, all the people drank their fill and watered their camels that knelt down there.

[Muslim]

‘Amr Ibn  al-‘Aas (رضي الله عنه)  said:

I asked, “O Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم), which of the people is most beloved to you?” He said, “‘Ayesha (رضي الله عنها).” I said, “O Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) of Allah, who among men?” He said, “Her Father (رضي الله عنه).” I said,”Then Who?” He said,””Umar Ibn Khattab (رضي الله عنه), ” then he named some other men.

[Sahih Ibn Hibban]

‘Abdullah Ibn Mas’ood (رضي الله عنه) said:

We felt a sense of pride when ‘Umar (رضي الله عنه) became Muslim, for we could not circumambulate the House and pray, until ‘Umar became Muslim. When he became Muslim, he fought them until they left us alone. Then we prayed and circumambulated the Ka’bah.
