Abu Musa Al Ash’ary (رضي الله عنه) narrated that he was with Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) in a garden. He (صلى الله عليه وسلم) commanded him to keep watch over the gate. A man came asking to enter and he (صلى الله عليه وسلم) asked, ‘ Who is there?” He said,” Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنه).” Allah’s messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, ” Let him in and give him glad tidings of paradise.”

Then ‘Umar (رضي الله عنه) came and the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said the same thing.

When Uthman (رضي الله عنه) came, he (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said,” Permit him and give him glad tidings of paradise against a calamity that will befall him.” He came in saying, ” O Allah give me patience.”
